Czech car manufacturer, Skoda, has reintroduced the Monte Carlo marque in India with the Rapid Monte Carlo edition. The vehicle is offered at an ex-showroom, all-India price of Rs 11.16 lakhs and is available exclusively in a flash red colour. Changes are limited to cosmetic and feature upgrades over the standard Rapid model. The premium Monte Carlo range from Skoda gets distinctive black design accents and race inspired exquisite interiors.
The Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo edition distinguishes itself from the regular model with a blackened grille, gloss black mirrors and quartz-cut projector headlights with chrome detailing and LED DRLs. The vehicle sits on 16-inch clubber alloy wheels with glossy black bolt covers and features a glossy black décor on the B-pillars with a ‘MONTE CARLO’ flag badge. Additionally, the vehicle gets a black tailgate spoiler and a black-grained sporty diffuser.
Inside, the Rapid Monte Carlo edition gets a three-spoke SuperSport flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel and black perforated leather and decorative stitching on the gear knob. The vehicle gets leatherette seat upholstery with grey vertical stripes and a piano black centre console with chrome elements. Moreover, the vehicle is available with ribbed stainless steel foot pedals and scuff plates with the 'MONTE CARLO' inscription. The Rapid Monte Carlo gets a 6.5-inch colour touchscreen central infotainment system with SmartLink technology.
The feature list further includes Climatronic air conditioning technology, rain sensing wiper, built-in cruise control, a multifunctional display, height and length adjustable steering wheel, adjustable headrests and foldable armrests, tinted windows and windscreen and a rearview camera. The Rapid Monte Carlo edition is powered by the same set of petrol and diesel engines that perform duties in the regular Rapid models. The 1.5-litre TDI diesel produces 110bhp of power and 250Nm of torque whereas the 1.6-litre MPI petrol makes 105bhp and 153Nm of torque.
