The current range of Porsche 718 Spyders consists of the standard, the S and the GTS models. While all three come with turbocharged four-cylinder motors, this year will see the 718 line-up welcoming a flat-six motor, with the help of the Boxster Spyder and the Cayman GT4.
These new spy shots on the matter allow us to check out the 2019 Boxster Spyder testing near the Arctic Circle, with the cloth top being clearly visible. The prototype still sports the Sport Design package front apron, which comes standard on the GTS, but the production model will most certainly receive a dedicated bumper. As for the rear bumper, this is a custom piece with a new exhaust layout.
The German carmaker has confirmed that the Spyder and the GT4 will maintain their naturally aspirated nature. Output will sit closer to the 400bhp than the 500bhp mark. And while a six-speed manual is guaranteed, the rumour mill also talks about a PDK being offered as an option.
