- The updated GLC is expected to arrive next year ahead of the AMG powered version.
- Will be powered by a twin-turbo V8 producing around 480bhp.
- Expected to make its way to India as well.
Of late, Mercedes-Benz is busy rejigging its entire product line-up. This means that there’s already an update under development for the current GLC which was introduced just two years ago in 2016. Our spy sleuths have spotted a performance version of the refreshed GLC undergoing tough testing at the gruesome Nurburgring.
The updated GLC 63 test mule fails to hide the imposing Panamericana grille special to the new crop of AMG models. The headlamps will get a slight change which seems a lot sleeker than the ones on the current model. The bumpers both fore and aft appear to be tweaked akin to the ones seen on the AMG GT and new-gen CLS. The lighting signature on the tail lamps too will be redesigned with the update. The absence of camo elsewhere means the rest of the body will remain unchanged with MY2019.
Given that it’s just a mid-life updated, there won’t be any significant changes to the powertrain either. Under the hood of the updated GLC 63 AMG, will be the same twin-turbo V8 but with a slightly higher output compared to the 476bhp of the current model. The new SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9-speed transmission will also be part of the package.
We expect the updated GLC to be revealed early next year promptly followed by the Affalterbach-tuned version we see here. Shortly after, both of them will be launched in India as well since the GLC has been the highest selling model in the Mercedes-Benz’s line-up in the country.
