Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the new WagonR in India today. Before the launch we have managed to get all details of the car through its brochure.
The biggest giveaway from Maruti Suzuki was the tagline for the upcoming hatchback - Big New WagonR. It clearly meant that the new model will be larger in dimensions and the details in the images confirm that the car is wider, longer and also offers a longer wheelbase. The pearl metallic blue (poolside blue) is the signature colour along with other colour options like superior white, silky silver, magma grey, autumn orange and nutmeg brown.Â
The top-of-the-line ZXi trim features a 17.7 cm SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, digital tachometer, multi-functional steering wheel with mounted controls and electrically adjustable and retractable OVRMs with integrated turn signals amongst others. It's also equipped with front fog lamps, a driver and passenger side airbag, seatbelt pre-tensioners with force limiters, a rear defogger, co-driver side under-tray, rear back pocket, wiper and washer. One accessory that the 2019 WagonR ZXi 1.2 misses out on is reverse parking camera, while vehicle alert system is found on the infotainment system. There's a new smart mobile remote too.
For the first time, the WagonR will be offered in multiple engine options to amp up the choices for prospective buyers. The 67bhp 1.0-litre K10B three-cylinder petrol mill is available, while a new powerful 82bhp K12M 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine option will also be offered. These engine options come mated to a five-speed manual or an AMT transmission. The claimed fuel economy for the 1.0L variant is 22.5kmpl, while the fuel efficiency for the new engine in the line-up stands at 21.5kmpl for both - manual or automatic grades.
So, the 2019 Maruti Suzuki WagonR can be had in LXi, VXi, VXi AGS, ZXi and ZXi AGS trims. The AGS trims in the VXi and ZXi variants are the AMT versions keeping in line with the tradition of some other model launches too. As revealed earlier, the new WagonR is based on the fifth-generation Heartect platform that also underpins the Swift, Dzire, Ignis and even the Baleno. Stay tuned to CarWale as we will get the variant-wise prices of the new iteration and its key highlights, which will set it apart from its predecessor.
