- CNG option available in LXI and LXI (O) variants
- Available only in the 1.0-litre engine with a manual transmission option
Maruti Suzuki introduced the all-new Wagon R in India earlier this year in two petrol engine options - a 1.0-litre and a 1.2-litre option. This time around, the vehicle is available with a CNG option and can be had in two base variants – LXI (Rs 4.84 lakhs) and LXI (O) (Rs 4.89 lakhs). The CNG option is limited to the 1.0-litre engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
Based on the Heartect platform, the new Wagon R CNG with larger dimensions is roomier than its predecessor. In terms of features, the Wagon R CNG variant is offered with front power windows, central locking, manual air-conditioner, 13-inch steel wheels and a seat-belt reminder. Standard safety features include driver side airbag, ABS with EBD, speed alert system and rear parking sensors. The passenger side airbag is available in the optional LXI variant.
The 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine produces 67bhp of power and 90Nm of torque. The CNG variant is limited to a manual option, while the regular model can be had with an optional AMT transmission. The company has not introduced a CNG option in the bigger 1.2-litre trim. The new model has emerged as a strong competitor against the likes of the Hyundai Santro CNG in India.
