- MY2019 Maruti Suzuki Ignis was spotted undisguised for the first time.
- Gets roof rails in top-spec along with co-driver seat belt reminder and high-speed warning system as standard.
- Expected to be launched over the next few days.
After the launch of the new-gen Wagon R and facelifted Baleno, Maruti Suzuki was prepping to update the slow-moving Ignis. The model year update for the Nexa hatchback was recently spotted undisguised with some added features.
The updated Ignis gets roof rails for the first time, lending it a crossover stance. However, the roof rails will be available only on the top-spec Alpha & Zeta variant. The rest of the exterior remains more or less unchanged. On the inside, there are additional safety features such as co-driver seat belt reminder and high-speed warning system which come as standard fitments. Moreover, the new infotainment system which debuted in the Wagon R and Baleno will make its way into the Ignis as well. Meanwhile, the Sigma variant gets reverse parking sensors and seatbelt reminder as well.
With the update, there will be no changes under the hood of the MY2019 Ignis. The hatchback will continue to be powered by the same 1.2-litre four-cylinder K-series petrol engine which produces 82bhp and 113Nm. The transmission options are five-speed manual as standard and an AMT as optional.
The 2019 Ignis is expected to be launched in the next few days. Prices are expected to remain at par with the older model. More details will be revealed soon, so keep visiting CarWale.
