The latest teaser for the 2019 Lexus ES reveals the upcoming model ahead of its official debut at the Beijing Motor show on 25 April. The new model now features a sharper and angular design over its predecessor, as it draws inspiration from its luxurious sibling, the Lexus LS. Based on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, the Lexus LS is also expected to be lighter and better at handling than the outgoing model.
As seen in the teaser, the 2019 Lexus ES gets a new set of LED headlamps and LED DRLs which complement the traditional massive spindle grille. The vehicle sports boomerang-shaped chrome accents on the air intake on the bumper. The sides appear more or less similar to the current generation model except for the blackened ORVMs and new multi-spoke alloy wheels. As for the rear, the vehicle gets new LED tail lamps with a restyled cluster design and a large boot-lid mounted spoiler.
As for the interior, the new Lexus ES gets improved quality upholstery and a revised infotainment system. Apart from standard safety features like the multiple airbags and ABS with EBD, the ES will now get additional safety features such as the pre-collision warning and steer assist. Mechanically, the 2019 Lexus ES is powered by a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine paired with an electric motor to generate 202bhp of power and 213Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to an E-CVT.
