Hyundai introduced the Veloster, a sports coupe for the international market in 2011. Now it has been six years since its launch and it is due for an update. Recent spy shots show that the 2019 Hyundai Veloster is already in the works with some cosmetic changes. The car was spotted testing on the streets of Orange County, California.
As seen in the spy shots, the vehicle wears a strong camouflage which keeps its new styling and looks under the wraps. But the few cues which give away the reworked style are the sharp looking alloy wheels, refreshed headlamps and tail lamps. The door accessing the rear seat stays exclusively behind the passenger door. The rear hatch extends even further than the previous generation, offering some more space to the passengers in the rear though the overall profile of the vehicle is same as the current model.
Powering the Veloster will be the same 1.6-litre turbo petrol and 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine. The former one produces 140bhp and the latter one produces 201bhp. Recently the Korean manufacturer confirmed the two-door i30 N is in works which indicates that we shall not see a Veloster with an N badge on it anytime soon.
The Veloster is expected to break cover in early 2018 and will go on sale in the international markets. When launched internationally, the 2019 Veloster will continue to compete against the Renault Clio and the Ford Focus.
