2019 Hyundai Santa Fe spied testing

The next-generation Hyundai Santa Fe has been spotted testing in Europe. Featuring a new design language similar to the Kona and the Sonata, the new Santa Fe is expected to go on sale internationally late next year as a 2019 model.

The new Santa Fe has ditched the curvy design to adopt a boxier upright rear section. The fascia features a square-ish grille with two sets of headlamps. It even seems to have grown dimensionally. Under the hood would be four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, with reports suggesting a plug-in hybrid for the top-end variant. It will be offered in both front-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive versions.

The Santa Fe is the most premium SUV in Hyundai’s line-up. The current model has been on sale globally since 2013 and in India since early 2014. While it is offered only as a seven-seater in the current avatar, the next-generation model is also expected to be available as a five-seater. It competes with the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and the Ford Endeavour.
