Honda has launched the 10th generation Civic in India at Rs 17.69 lakhs (ex-showroom all-India). The iconic brand name makes a comeback after five years and can be had in three petrol variants two diesel variants along with five colour options. The top-of-the-line ZX diesel and petrol variants get a fully digital instrument cluster, 17-inch alloy wheels, full LED head lamps, 7.0-inch touchscreen system with Android Auto/Apple Car Play, sunroof and electric adjustment for the driver’s seat. Safety wise, it comes with six airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounting points, ESP, ABS and Lane Watch Function.Â
Exterior design highlights for the Civic include the grille, alloy wheels, tail lamps and on the inside, it comes with brown and black interiors with silver plastics on the centre console and steering wheel.Â
The Civic, for the first time in India, gets a diesel powertrain which, in this case is the same 1.6-litre unit producing 118bhp/300Nm and is only being offered with a six-speed manual. The petrol, on the other hand, is the legendary 1.8-litre unit producing 140bhp/174Nm and can only be had with a CVT. Â
The Honda Civic takes on the likes of the Skoda Octavia, Hyundai Elantra and the Toyota Corolla in the D-segment of the Indian car market. This price bracket also nets SUVs like the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson and the upcoming MG Hector.
