- The new and updated Ford Figo is launched in three trim levels – Ambiente, Titanium and Titanium BLU – with three powertrain options.
- Gets additional features alongside the subtle cosmetic upgrades.
Ford has launched the Figo facelift in India for the price of Rs 5.15 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). This is the mid-life update for the B-segment hatchback after being on sale for almost four years. The Figo facelift gets subtle cosmetic changes along with rejigged trim levels, added features and new petrol engine options from the Dragon family.
On the exterior, the changes are limited to a revised bumper design both fore and aft. There are extended chrome bezels for the fog lamps, as seen on the Aspire, along with a new mesh grille. In the top-spec BLU trim, there are blue accents around the fog lamps and sporty decals on the side and on the tailgate. Also part of the update are new colour options, dual-tone paint scheme, and newly designed multi-spoke alloy wheels.
On the inside, the all-black cabin gets a redesigned layout which is dominated by the seven-inch touchscreen system from the EcoSport and Freestyle. But the SYNC3 is apparently missed out in the Figo. The new feature list now includes dual airbag and ABS as standard along with rear parking sensors. The top-spec Titanium BLU trims come with rain sensing wipers, auto headlamps, automatic AC, leather-wrapped steering wheel, bigger 15-inch alloy wheels and six airbags.
Under the hood, there is a new 1.2-litre petrol engine from the Dragon family. It is the same motor which does duty in the updated Aspire where it makes 95bhp and 120Nm. The diesel, meanwhile, is the same old 1.5-litre unit which produces 99bhp and 215Nm. Both the engines are available with a five-speed manual transmission as standard. Apart from that, the petrol-automatic is the same powertrain from the EcoSport – 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine making 121bhp and mated to a six-speed torque converter. There is also a possibility of a CNG option with the new Figo, but that will come at a later date.
The Ford Figo facelift continues to lock horns with the likes of Hyundai Grand i10, Honda Brio and the Maruti Suzuki Swift.
