-Five colour options
- All variants get six airbags
Ford will launch the updated 2019 Endeavour in India tomorrow. The car is being offered in three variants, five colours and with both manual and automatic transmission options. This is a mid-life update for Ford’s flagship SUV in India and like the outgoing model, it is assembled at Ford’s Chennai plant.
Externally, this updated Ford Endeavour gets an updated grille, new design for the alloy wheels as well as new bumpers. Where Ford has done its work is on the feature list of the SUV. Across the range, there are six airbags, SYNC3 infotainment system, ABS with EBD, stability assist, power driver’s seat and leather upholstery.
The Titanium+ variant, in addition to the features of the Titanium variant, gets a power passenger seat, terrain management system, auto park assist, knee airbag for driver, power folding third row, sunroof, ambient lighting, hill descent control and front parking sensors. There are five colour options- diffused silver, silver, white, black and red.
The 2.2-litre diesel is a four-cylinder unit producing 158bhp/385Nm while the 3.2-litre five-cylinder engine produces 197bhp/470Nm. The 2.2-litre unit can be had with a six-speed manual or a six-speed AT while the 3.2-litre engine can only be had with a six-speed AT and 4X4 as standard.
This Ford Endeavour is a direct rival to the Toyota Fortuner and the Mahindra Alturas. All three are the major players in the diesel ladder-on-frame segment, but the Fortuner has the added advantage of offering petrol power too. We believe that Ford will only marginally increase the price of the updated Endeavour when it is launched tomorrow.
