The new Ford Edge was spotted testing on the streets of Dearborn, US. The Ford Edge is an SUV which is currently on sale in the American and European markets and the spied test mule confirms that the Edge will receive a midlife update.
The mule on test has been camouflaged heavily, thus hiding any cosmetics changes made to it. However, the Edge will receive some revised styling and new features. The headlamp and tail lamp will get refreshed styling to cope with the updated looks.
The cabin is expected to receive a makeover with some additional features carried over from the Ford Edge sold in Europe.
The powertrain is expected to be the same as the current model - the 2.0-liter and 2.7-liter EcoBoost engines, as well as the 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6. A 9-speed automatic will replace the 6-speed unit for fuel economy enhancement.
Ford will continue with the cosmetic changes for the Edge until 2021. The manufacturer is expected to showcase the new Ford Edge in the 2018 Detroit Auto Show and will be revealed as the 2019 model. The new SUV will go on sale shortly after its unveiling and will compete with BMW X3, Mazda CX-5 and the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
