    2019 Ford EcoSport launched: Variants explained

    Ford has introduced the updated 2019 EcoSport in the country at a starting price of Rs 7.69 lakhs (ex-showroom). The new EcoSport is available in five variants – Ambiente, Trend, Titanium, Titanium+ and the S variant. Additionally, the Titanium trim can also be had with the optional feature-loaded Thunder pack. Mechanically, the Ambiente, Trend, Titanium and Titanium+ trims are available with 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options, while the S variant can be had with 1.0-litre EcoBoost and 1.5-litre diesel engine option.

    Ambiente 

    The entry-level Ambient trim is available in petrol as well as a diesel engine option. In terms of features, it gets standard equipment like front and rear power windows, manual AC with heater, electric swing gate with chrome lever, electric adjustable ORVMs with turn indicators, day/night inner rear-view mirror, driver passenger sunvisors and height adjustable front and rear headrest. The trim gets gloss black front grille, black fog lamp bezel, halogen headlamps, blacked out decal on B-pillar and B-Pilar and black door handles and outside mirror.   

    As for safety, it gets dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, safe clutch start, front seat belts with pre-tensioner and load limiter, crash unlocking system, speed-sensing auto door locks, engine immobilizer, driver and co-passenger seat belt alert, rear parking sensors, emergency brake light flashing, 12V power source outlet in the front, approach lights and home safe headlamps, door ajar warning and rear child lock.

    As for entertainment, it gets audio with FM, AUX-in, USB, along with four speakers, Bluetooth handsfree/Audio streaming and device lock. As for the interior, the base variant gets fabric seats, single tone dark environment theme, black door handles and 60/40 split rear seat. The speedo and tachometer come with gear shift indicator display, fuel computer with outside temperature display, courtesy lamp in front and rear and theatre dimming cabin lights. The Ambient petrol MT is priced at Rs 7.69 lakhs, while the Ambient diesel MT is available for Rs 8.19 lakhs.

    Trend

    The Trend variant gets all the features from the base variant, however, you additionally get a rearview camera, automatic AC, driver seat height adjust and driver passenger sunvisors with mirror for co-passenger. The trim comes with silver finish grille, body coloured ORVMs and door handles, silver inserts in the steering wheel and blacked out B-pillar strips. Additionally, the trim gets rear wash wiper and defogger as well as driver and passenger seatback map pocket. 

    As for entertainment, the Trend trim gets a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with embedded navigation, two front tweeters, microphone, audio control on the steering wheel and dual USB ports. The petrol MT is priced at Rs 8.49 lakh while the diesel MT is available for Rs 8.99 lakhs.   

    Titanium

    Moving one level higher, the Titanium variant additionally gets front fog lamps, locking wheel nut for spare alloy wheel and one-touch driver side button for power windows. Additionally, the Titanium variant offers power fold outside mirrors, rear package tray, front armrest with storage, push start/stop button, smart entry with capacitive sensor and 12V power source outlet. 

    As for the exterior, the vehicle gets chrome front grille, body coloured fog lamp bezel, satin aluminium roof rails, front and rear bumper applique, LED DRLs and projector headlamps. As for the interior, it gets leather steering wheel, premium cluster with chrome rings, front fog lamps and puddle lamps on outside mirrors. The petrol MT is priced at Rs 9.28 lakhs, while the diesel MT is priced at Rs 9.78 lakhs. 

    Titanium+

    The second to top, the Titanium+ trim additionally offers rear armrest with cup holders, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, sunglass holder and paddle shifter (in automatic). The Titanium+ variant also get an electric sunroof. As for safety, in addition to features from the Titanium trim, the Titanium+ additionally offers ISOFIX, side and curtain airbags, EBA, ESC, TCS and HLA. 

    As for the interior, it gets chrome door handle, cargo area management system, front map lamps and illuminated glove box. The Titanium+ petrol MT is priced at Rs 10.18 lakhs, while the petrol AT is priced at Rs 11.08 lakhs. The diesel MT is priced at Rs 10.68 lakhs. 

    EcoSport S

    The top-spec S is available with the 1.0-litre EcoBoost or the 1.5-litre diesel engine option. In addition to all the features from the Titanium+ trim, the S trim additionally gets Ford MyKey, Emergency Assistance and cruise control with adjustable speed limiter device. The updated model gets an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, SYNC3 with voice recognition, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

    As for the exterior, the vehicle gets high black gloss grille, black painted fog lamp bezel and halogen quadbeam reflector headlamps with chrome bezel. Additionally, it also gets black painted roof and roof-rails and HID headlamps. As for the interior, it gets premium leather seats, satin orange upholstery, sporty alloy pedal and black inner door handle. Additionally, it gets multi-colour footwell ambiente lighting and tyre pressure monitoring system. The 1.0-litre EcoBoost is priced at Rs 10.83 lakhs, while the 1.5-litre diesel is priced at Rs 11.33 lakhs. 

    Thunder pack 

    The Thunder pack is optional on the Titanium trim. In addition to all the features from the Titanium trim, the Thunder pack additionally offers blackened front grille, headlamps and fog lamp bezel, electric sunroof, sporty rear spoiler, 17-inch alloy wheels, black roof and Thunder decals As for the interior, it gets cognac interior colour and seat stitching, leather seats, front door scuff plates, vinyl front armrest, black outside mirror, spare wheel cover and chrome inner door handles. The petrol and diesel version of the Thunder edition is priced at Rs 10.18 lakhs and Rs 10.68 lakhs, respectively.
