The Chevrolet Silverado, one of the many oversized pickup trucks that dot the American landscape, was recently spotted testing. The spy pictures indicate that the new American SUV will receive a generation upgrade in the near future.
The new Silverado is expected to receive minor facial tweaks and a slightly restyled rear. The silhouette still embodies a dual cabin pickup truck. Besides that, the spy shots exhibit a newly designed alloy wheel and an innovative running board that seems to also incorporate a step-up into the flatbed. The interiors are expected to be restyled as a part of the generation upgrade.
The new Silverado is allegedly based on a new platform with an aluminium-intensive chassis to save weight – which its immediate rival, the Ford F-150, has already adopted. The new American truck is expected to be powered by a 4.3-litre V6 diesel engine. The transmission on offer could be the ten speed automatic gearbox and some variants could see the same eight speed automatic unit carried forward from the current Silverado on sale. The new Silverado is speculated to debut with two new features, first is the brake-by-wire and the second one is the air suspension which has been already seen in Ram 1500 trucks.
That being said, the spotted truck is expected to be the Security edition of the Silverado which indeed was guarded by Chevrolet’s hired security.
The Chevrolet Silverado is expected to debut in the later half of 2018 and the American manufacturer is expected to christen the truck as the 2019 model. Once launched, the truck will run up against its usual competitors – the Ram 1500, Ford F-150 and the GMC Sierra.
