This is the 2019 Chevrolet Malibu, caught testing with less camouflage and showing off its new face. The Malibu will go in for a modest facelift next year to keep it fresh among the falling midsize sedan sales.
While the current generation has been far more popular than its predecessor, Chevrolet isn't resting. This prototype shows that the front and rear end will undergo noticeable changes, although they are most likely to include new lights, bumpers and a new grille which we can now clearly see.
It's hard to see the interior but we expect it to stay in line with the recent Chevy models such as the Equinox. More advanced driver assistance technologies are also likely. A 1.6-litre turbodiesel seen in the Cruze and upcoming Equinox is likely to land in the Malibu, too. It will be mated to a 9-speed automatic that was added for 2017.
