The 2019 Audi A8 sedan will get its global reveal at the Audi Summit in Barcelona tomorrow. It’s the fourth generation for the Ingolstadt based automaker’s flagship luxury limo and it was shown in concept form as the Prologue at Delhi 2016.
Based on the several teaser trailers as well as the many India exclusive spy shots that we have been sharing, we can confirm that the A8 in this fifth generation will sport an evolutionary design with all the signature Audi design elements. This includes the large grille, head lamps, tail lamps, sporty silhouette and of course, the famous four-ringed logo indicating its Ingolstadt origins.
Given how big a jump Audi is making with this new A8, it will come loaded to the gills with new technology, both in terms of driver aids as well as systems that will improve overall efficiency. The former includes self-parking and semi-autonomous driving systems while the latter will comprise things like a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and cylinder deactivation.
This new A8 will be offered with a range of petrol and diesel engines but we expect that Audi will make an announcement regarding the hybrid as well as electric models for the A8 family. Also expected to be a part of the official announcement will be an expansion in the number of body styles that will come with the A8 to match the likes of the Mercedes S-Class family.
It is almost certain that this A8 will come to India and maybe much sooner than expected. At least two of its variants will be locally assembled at the German automaker’s plant in Aurangabad when the car is launched here sometime in 2018.
