The fifth generation Audi A4 was internationally launched in 2015. The premium German sedan made its way to the Indian market by mid-2016 and the manufacturer now plans on giving the car a midlife revision.
The update is speculated to be cosmetic only and not a generation upgrade. The rendered image hints at a restyled fascia which has more elegant bits than sporty touches. The air dam is accentuated with chrome bits and the Audi dubbed full LED ‘Matrix’ head lamps get sleeker styling. Side profile houses the door mounted wing mirrors and the window brim gets chrome finish.
The new car will be based on the same MLB platform as the current generation and will carry the same drivetrain as its predecessor. Powering the current A4 is a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.0-litre inline four diesel engine. The former one produces 147bhp and the latter one produces 187bhp and both these drivetrains are expected to power the new car.
The updated Audi A4 is expected to unveil itself in the 2018 Paris Motor Show or Geneva Motor Show and the car could be showcased as the 2019 model. After it's unveiled, the A4 will fight against the Mercedes C-class, BMW 3 series, Volvo S60 and the Jaguar XE. The new A4 is expected to hit the Indian soil in mid-2019.
