- Showcased at the Brazilian motor show, the Fastback Concept will spawn a new crossover.
- It also previews the new design direction of the Italian carmaker.
Fiat arrived at the 2018 Sao Paulo Motor Show with a myriad of showcars. But the most eye-catching of them all is the Fastback Concept which points to Fiat’s new design direction while previewing an upcoming coupe-crossover.
The Fastback concept wears a striking silver finished paint with smooth flowing lines which make it appear upmarket, almost as good as the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe. The fascia has a two-tier headlamp unit with a sleek and sculpted grille. The massively flared wheel arches shod with multispoke wheels add to the muscular stance, while the sharp shoulder line complements the sloping roofline. At the back, the sleek tail lights placed high on the deck-type tailgate finish the design of the Fastback in style.
Since it is just a design study, the Italian carmaker hasn’t revealed any details regarding its powertrain or platform. But the production vehicle that will be spawned from it is expected to share the same underpinnings as the Jeep Compass or the Fiat Toro SUV.
The Fastback Concept based SUV is expected to go into production by 2020 as a part of Fiat's expansion plans in Brazil. The car maker will be launching around 15 products in the country by 2023. After its introduction in the Brazilian market, the Fastback-based SUV will make its way to international markets as well. We hope to see it arrive in India as well, given the demands for stylish SUVs in our country is at an all-time high.
