2018 Range Rover revealed

The current generation Range Rover was quite a leap ahead of its predecessor, shedding almost half a tonne of weight in the process. The new aluminium-infused chassis debuted with the Range Rover back in 2014 and now the flagship SUV from Land rover is due for an update in 2018.

Since it is a mid-life update, the platform is the same and so is most of the exterior. Yes, there are a few tweaks to the fascia and some nips and tucks, but nothing that is radically different. The headlamps get all-new intelligent LED internals while the bumpers have been tweaked for a fresher look. It sports new alloys as well.

Lately, the automotive industry has been rapidly moving ahead in terms of equipment, which is why Land Rover seems to have revamped the interior. While the layout is almost the same, the 2018 Range Rover gets a new touchscreen infotainment system on the waterfall centre console. Also, the instrument cluster is a TFT screen that displays the classic dials along with a host of information. It also gets a panoramic sunroof now after it debuted with the Velar earlier this year.

While facelifts rarely get any changes in the powertrain, Land Rover has decided to expedite its electric journey with the introduction of its first plug-in hybrid electric mill. With electric motors coupled with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, the Range Rover will have 404bhp of power and a whopping 640Nm of torque on tap. The Range Rover will be able to drive for about 50kms on electric power only and will need three hours to replenish the batteries with help of a fast charger.

Scheduled to go on sale in the UK in early 2018, you can expect the new 2018 Range Rover to arrive in India soon after as it is a CBU. We can expect Land Rover to showcase the all-new Rangie at the Auto Expo in February 2018 if they do not launch the car by then.
