JaguarLand Rover’s Evoque Convertible has been on sale in international markets since its debut at the 2015 Los Angeles Motor Show. The open-top luxury SUV has now gone on sale in the Indian market as well with a price tag of Rs 69.53 lakh. So, what's special about India's first convertible luxury SUV? Let's find out through this picture gallery.
This Evoque Convertible is based on the three-door version of the Evoque. It is 4,370mm long, 1,900mm wide and 1,609mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,660mm.
Only available in the HSE Dynamic trim, the car sports a gloss black grille flanked by adaptive full LED headlamps. There's a dual-tone front bumper with black inserts and large intakes on either side.
The main highlight is the electric folding fabric roof replacing the hard top. This is a black one to match the A-pillar and ORVMs, which are also finished in black.
This roof can open and close in around 20 seconds when the SUV is travelling at speeds of up to 48kmph. To reduce air draft there are wind deflector fixing points as well.
For added safety, the carmaker has equipped the vehicle with a pop-up roll-bar system which deploys for protection during a rollover risk.
The rear end looks similar to the standard Evoque. However, boot space is limited to accommodate the roof. There's an unconventional tailgate, which swings up to reveal a rectangular loading area.
Like the hard top Evoque, the cabin of the Evoque Convertible gets a three-spoke steering wheel and a twin-dial instrument cluster.
The dash is equipped with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Navigation Pro and Meridian Surround Sound System.
Entertainment needs are taken care of by an audio system paired with 12 speakers and a sub-woofer. It packs features like Bluetooth, navigation and Wi-Fi hotspot.
Though it’s a two-door car, there are two more seats in the back with a folding centre armrest and separate air-conditioning vents.
In India, the Evoque Convertible comes powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine producing 237bhp of power and 340Nm.
This Si4 mill comes mated to a nine-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shift. The carmaker says the convertible can do the 0-100kmph sprint in 8.1 seconds and has a top speed of 217kmph.
An all-wheel drive system is standard with features like Roll Stability Control (RSC), hill descent control, All-Terrain Progress Control (ATPC), torque vectoring and dynamic stability control.
