2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS arrives at Goodwood

Porsche has finally taken the wraps off its new Porsche 911 GT2 RS at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and here are the specs everybody has been waiting so eagerly for. Powering this supercar is a 3.8-litre, flat-six motor derived from the 911 Turbo S after going through some tweaks like larger turbochargers and a more efficient cooling system. 

This iteration now makes an astounding 690bhp and 750Nm of torque, which is an increment of 79bhp and 50Nm over the outgoing 911 GT2 RS. And not to mention the fact that it promises to be a hoot to drive since it tips the scales at just 1,470kg (with a tank-full of fuel). But that’s not all, an optional Weissach package promises to drop another 30kgs thanks to the magnesium wheels and a number of carbon-fibre components, like the roof, anti-roll bars, and axle components. 

Equipped with such measures, a potent motor, and a tuned seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, Porsche claims the new 911 GT2 RS will despatch the 0-100kmph run in just 2.7sec before hitting a top speed of 340kmph. A new titanium exhaust system that’s 6kg lighter than those on the 911 Turbo assures an earful of drama when the accelerator pedal is floored. Expect the Porsche 911 GT2 RS to hit the showrooms worldwide in the first quarter of 2018, so stay tuned.
