-Second generation SUV
-Evolutionary design
-Petrol power only
The Porsche Macan has now entered its second generation and has made its public debut at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. It will go on sale in early 2019 and will for the first time only be offered with petrol power.
The biggest change or set of changes is an evolutionary design for the Macan after its elder sibling, the Cayenne. This is visible in the design of the face as well as the full LED headlamps and tail lamps that have a large LED strip running between them. In the case of the last one, you could even say that it’s a signature of the Porsche family.
The cabin has been mostly carried over from the outgoing model but the 7.0-inch display from the first generation has been replaced by a massive 11-inch unit that literally dominates the dashboard. In addition to this you also get new design for the AC vents, GT series inspired steering wheel, heated windscreen and an ioniser. This being a Porsche SUV, it’s fully loaded in terms of features and in addition now there is cloud connectivity for better use of various driver assistance systems.
Porsche has dropped diesels from its line up altogether and is now only expected to offer the Macan with a 2.4-litre petrol, 3.0-litre petrol and possibly a 2.0-litre four-cylinder for the next gen R4 model. All variants are expected to be offered only with a seven-speed PDK.
This Macan will come to India by mid-2019 and will more or less cost whatever the current model costs. The Macan in terms of pricing is a rival for the likes of the Discovery Sport, Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT and even the Volvo XC90 T8 Excellence Hybrid.
