The Mercedes product lineup for 2018 has been leaked on to the internet. As expected, it’s a mix of updates and new models across the range and has been scheduled for all four quarters of 2018. Here is our take on what you can expect from each of the cars.
A-Class sedan
The newest addition to the MFA platform cars will be a sedan based on the A-Class which, by the look of things, will be called the A-Class sedan. It will be available in standard wheelbase as well as long wheelbase for the likes of the Chinese market. It seems more than likely that under Merc’s old nomenclature this would have been the next generation CLA sedan but now with the new naming convention, this will be called the A-Class sedan. It’s already been shown in concept form and we believe that the production ready model will not stray too far away.
C-Class facelift
It has been four years since Mercedes brought this latest generation C-Class that looks like the new E-Class which looks like the S-Class. If it is a case of siblings, then it is safe to assume that the C-Class facelift will mimic the S-Class facelift that was unveiled earlier this year. Expect an updated feature list and new engines under the hood.
GLC
The second smaller Mercedes SUV, the GLC will be one of its high-riding highlights for 2017. Firstly, there will be a LWB version for…China (no prizes for guessing though). The other major development for the GLC will be a fuel cell model which was unveiled and showcased at Frankfurt 2017.
CLS
The CLS with its fastback roof will join the new entrants in 2018. It is expected to be based on the C-Class and will share most of its underpinnings with the car.
G-Class
Moving up the ladder, Mercedes have also announced a major update for the G-Class. It’s a car that’s popular in America and the Gulf and whatever updates they make should be oriented towards those two markets.
4 door AMG coupe
Mercedes is finally jumping onto the sports sedan race with a four-door AMG badged coupe. It’s a rival for the likes of the Porsche Panamera and the Maserati Quattroporte and even the Audi A7. It’s going to be loud, fast and probably quite amazing to look at.
