The new Mercedes-Benz C-class has been spied testing and the spy shots point to the fact that the German sedan will be getting a cosmetic update soon. The fourth generation C-class which is currently on sale in international and Indian market was unveiled in the year 2014 at the Detroit Motor Show. The spied car is expected to be a facelift and a midlife update to the current model.
The test mule was heavily camouflaged. However it did reveal a few styling bits. The new C-Class is expected to wear a reworked bumper with more elegant lines. The head lamp assemble receives LED day time running lights inserts as the part of Mercedes-Benz family design. The side profile carries a silhouette similar to the current car although the new car sits on a new set of designer alloy wheels. The rear end is expected to carry a more elegantly styled bumper to compliment the car’s appearance.
The cabin is expected to receive a tweaked dashboard with additional features as a part of midlife update.
The updated C-class is expected to be based on the same Modular Rear Architecture (MRA) platform and the power source is expected to be the same as well. The petrol variant will be powered by the 2.0-litre engine which produces 181bhp. However, the diesel variant will be powered by a 2.1-litre engine with two state of tune – 167bhp and 201bhp. Both the engines will be mated to the nine-speed ‘G-TRONIC’ gearbox.
It is highly anticipated that the new C-class will unwrap its camouflage in the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. Internationally, the updated C-class is expected to be shed its cloak at the upcoming 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show or the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. Post its launch, the new C-class will continue its competition with the Audi A4, Jaguar XE, Volvo S60 and the BMW 3 series.
