The country’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has introduced the facelifted version of its popular sedan, the Ciaz. Interestingly, this is the first comprehensive upgrade that the vehicle has received since it was first introduced in 2014. Owing to a fresh set of cosmetic upgrades, the length of the new model has been reduced by 15mm to 4490mm, while the height, width and wheelbase remain unchanged. Read below to find out more about the key differences between the new and the old model –
Petrol Engine
The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is powered by a new 1.5-litre petrol engine with a Smart Hybrid technology that generates 103bhp at 6,000rpm and 138Nm at 4,400rpm. The older 1.4-litre K Series engine generated 91bhp and 130Nm of torque. The new engine also claims slightly better ARAI claimed fuel efficiency figure of 21.56kmpl (21.28 for AT). The 1.3-litre diesel engine has been carried forward from the older model.
Exterior
The new Maruti Ciaz distinguishes itself from the older model with a set of fresh upgrades in form of a new grille design and a chrome strip on the top which is flanked by the redesigned headlamps. The front bumper has a subtle update with circular fog lamps and a faux brushed metal finish surround that complement the projector headlamp unit with horizontal LED DRLs. The rear section looks fresh due to a revised bumper and taillights with a new lighting signature. The overall look is complete with the fresh set of alloy wheels.
Interior
Although the cabin layout appears to be more or less similar to the older model, the company has given it a fresh look by including elements such as birch blonde wood finish with satin chrome accents and a new 4.2 inch TFT Multi-Information Display (MID). The new model now gets rear AC vents as standard along with other features like chrome garnish (steering wheel, inside door handles, AC louvres knob and parking brake lever), keyless entry, cruise control, electrically adjustable ORVMs, front centre armrest with a utility box and rear centre armrest with cup holders. The vehicle also gets an additional set of safety features such as seatbelt reminder for driver and passenger along with the speed alert system.
