-Mid-life update
-Revised fascia
-Expected to get 1.5-litre diesel and petrol
-CVT for petrol and possibly AGS for diesel
-Updated cabin likely to take elements from Dzire
The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz has finally been spotted sans camouflage. It’s a mid-life update for the Indo-Japanese automaker’s C-segment sedan and the biggest change since the model was introduced in 2014.
The most major change is a new face with a new grille, bumper and fog lamp housing. This face change has given the car a sleeker look as compared to the outgoing model. Like the Dzire, the Ciaz has got chrome surrounds for the fog lamps and chrome inserts on the head lamps. Spy images indicate that a few elements from the Dzire’s cabin with some of our money going on the faux wood inserts but possibly in a different shade.
The biggest change is expected to be under the hood where the Ciaz will now get 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. The petrol motor’s engine is not expected to change much in output but the diesel will get more power and torque. The former is expected to get the AGS tech while the latter may get the CVT from the Baleno.
Sources suggest a holiday season debut for the car where it will continue to rival the likes of the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Honda City, VW Vento and Skoda Rapid.
