The KTM X-Bow has always been a benchmark when it comes ‘budget race cars’ for budding racers. For 2018, KTM has just revealed the latest version of the X-Bow GT4 racer.
Instead of concentrating on more power, KTM has interestingly decided to make the car more reliable and not to mention cheaper to run as well. For starters the 335bhp, 2-litre turbo four engine gets a more durable transmission that can handle up to 700Nm of torque. More importantly, the car now requires a service every 10,000km which was earlier needed at every 5000km. Even the suspension wishbones and centre-locking wheel hubs only need maintenance every 20,000km.
On the upgrade front, the Series ECU has been replaced by a Motec M142 engine controller and complete motorsport wiring harness. A GT3-style traction control system is now included as well. Fast, reliable and cheaper to run, KTM will make just 15 of these pocket-rockets and they’re already sold out.
