There's a new Jeep Wrangler coming to town soon and we shall see the automaker do away with the older one later this year. On sale since 2007, the current model, Wrangler JK will be replaced by an all new Wrangler JL later this year. The new car has been spotted by our spy photographers on a couple of occasions with new features and add-ons for thea first time on a Wrangler - a back-up camera, and a different type of roof. Now, once again images of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited haves surfaced online giving us a better idea of the updates incorporated into the JL Wrangler.
Although slightly grainy, the leaked images indicate that the new Wrangler JL won’t be a ground-breaking makeover ofthan the outgoing SUV. The design remains the same, but the images suggest that the new Wrangler will have a flatter hood, with a slightly more aerodynamic grille. The window surround gets a recess, due to which the door handles are positioned a bit lower, while the windshield will be foldable as suggested by the hinges at the bottom. The SUV in the image carry a redesigned front bumper, whereas the front fenders get air vents behind the wheel arches, which now carryies an LED-strip at the front.
The second image confirms the fact that the new Wrangler will have a removable roof. The doors can be stripped off as well, while the car will include a solid body roll-cage as a standard feature. The rear fender has recesses and there is a mounting on the tailgate where the spare tyre would reside (not shown in the image). The wrap-around tail lamps are expected to be LED, similar to those on the Renegade. As far as engine options are concerned, there will be a 3.0-litre V6 Pentastar turbo-diesel engine. Besides that, a new four-pot turbocharged “Hurricane" engine is expected to join the range as well.
As reported earlier, the new Wrangler will go into production this November. It will be manufactured at Jeep’s facility in Toledo, Ohio, where the Cherokee and Wrangler JK are currently being produced. The all-new Wrangler is expected to debut at this year’s Los Angeles Motor Show. The Wrangler is currently being imported as a CBU in India and the new generation is also expected to take the same route with a probable launch in mid-2018.
