We have finally spotted the 2018 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited with barely any camouflage, and it doesn't disappoint. As seen in these shots, the new Wrangler will resemble the outgoing one, but various aerodynamic tweaks will make it less upright.
Jeep will make use of a fixed windshield and a slightly longer front end to make the new Wrangler more streamlined than the current car. Mechanical details are expected to include significant amounts of aluminum in the name of weight reduction. That being said, the body will be mostly made of steel.
A new 2-litre turbo four, dubbed Hurricane, is slated for the Wrangler as a more fuel efficient option. Meanwhile, the Pentastar V6 and eight-speed automatic will retain the mainstream powertrain, although the big news will be a 3-litre V6 turbo diesel for North America and likely global markets.
Jeep officials have insisted that the Wrangler's off-road abilities will only be improved, despite the changes made for reasons of fuel economy. We expect to see the new Wrangler to make its public debut at the 2017 LA Auto Show.
