Jaguar has come up with a range of improvements for the flagship XJ sedan, which has been around for quite some time. For 2018, the British carmaker has introduced the XJR575 performance version, which comes with a host of tech upgrades and new safety features.
The XJR575 is the sportiest model in the new XJ line-up and delivers 575bhp and 700Nm of torque. The 25bhp uplift in power is delivered by Jaguar Land Rover’s 5-litre V8 supercharged engine.
The V8 motor allows this big, heavy sedan to sprint from 0-100kmph in 4.4 seconds and to a top speed of 300kmph, which is mighty impressive.
Available in the standard wheelbase form, buyers will be able to choose between two bespoke exterior colour finishes: Velocity Blue and Satin Corris Grey.
Updated exterior details include a rear spoiler, side sills, front bumper and lower air intakes featuring gloss black surrounds. The 20-inch wheels are also finished in gloss black.
For 2018, the XJ features new technologies like 4G Wi-Fi capability, which allow occupants to stay online while on the move with up to eight devices.
In addition, the central console now features a larger 10-inch touchscreen. This bigger screen functions like a smartphone, allowing occupants to pinch and zoom.
The XJ has finally received clever safety technology such as forward traffic detection, lane keep assist and driver conditionmonitor. There’s also autonomous emergency braking on offer.
The 2018 XJ is now on sale in the UK with a base on-road price of Rs 50.32 lakhs. It will compete with the BMW 7 Series and the recently updated Mercedes S-Class and the all-new Audi A8.
