2018 Isuzu MU-X launched: What else can you buy?

Isuzu India has finally brought in the updated MU-X to India. The refreshed MU-X was introduced internationally before Isuzu introduced it to India last year. After selling the older MU-X for a year and a half, the 2018 MU-X is launched in India for a price of Rs 26.26 lakhs for the 4x2 and Rs 28.22 lakhs for the 4x4 variant (ex-showroom Hyderabad). The prices of the new MU-X is slightly higher than the older model. At these prices, we have a few others too, so let’s see which other vehicles you can get for the price of the new MU-X.

Although the prices have increased, the price tag undercuts its direct rival by a fair margin. The price of the 4x2 can fetch you the Skoda Superb in the Style TSI trim. This luxury sedan is spacious and powerful as well. But if power is all you desire, then Skoda offers the Octavia RS with a 225bhp turbo petrol which is a cracker of an engine. 

You could also turn your attention to either the top-spec Hyundai Tucson or the entry-level Ford Endeavour. Both are high-riding vehicles at the same price but the former is loaded with the best-in-class feature, while the latter will get you the desired road presence unlike any other car on the streets. For a little more money, the Volkswagen Tiguan Comfortline offers an upmarket SUV as well, but it only comes with two rows and seats five. 

The 4x4 trim of the MU-X is priced at Rs 28.23 lakhs. At this price point, the segment leader Toyota Fortuner can be had in the 2.7 4x2 AT guise. Another upmarket SUV in the same price range is the new Honda CR-V. The Honda entered into a new-generation and comes with a diesel powerplant and a seven-seat configuration for the first time. But if you are looking for a luxury sedan, the Volkswagen Passat is available for a little extra cash but offers an opulent cabin combined with understated looks and executive features. And for someone looking to stand out in the crowd, there is the Mini Cooper D 3 door as well.

But the Isuzu MU-X is a rugged off-roader with a fairly well laid out cabin, decent feature list, a potent motor and it undercuts its rivals by a commendable margin.
