Korean car manufacturer Hyundai has discreetly introduced the 2018 i20 Active in India at a starting price of 6.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The upgraded model has been introduced in India after the unveiling of the new i20 Active facelift for the European market. The 2018 i20 Active gets a fresh set of cosmetic upgrades for the interior and the exterior, while mechanically it continues to be powered by the existing engine options. Based on the Elite i20, the i20 Active offers an additional 50mm of height over the former car.
As for what’s new, the 2018 i20 Active comes with dual-tone body paint schemes in the top spec version. It is available in three dual tone options – blue with polar white, brown with black and white with black. The front bumper features a silver scuff plate, while the trapezoidal grille is flanked by the circular fog lamps has been retained from the older model. The cross hatchback gets projector headlamps and LED DRLs.
As for the interior, it now gets a bigger seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with new upholstery and body-coloured accents on the seats as well as the dashboard. Mechanically, it continues to be powered by existing petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.2-litre petrol generates 82bhp and 114Nm of torque while the 1.4-litre diesel engine churns out 89bhp and 220Nm of torque. The petrol gets a five-speed manual while the diesel offers a six-speed manual gearbox.
