Ford has started running the Fiesta prototypes in Europe. The spotted test mule is believed to be one amongst the early prototypes of the next-gen Fiesta.
The vehicle appears to be wider than the current-gen Ford Fiesta available in the global market. Beneath the heavy cladding, we can expect new headlamps and a redesigned grille. The overall appearance seems to be more chiseled in comparison to the existing model. Though the spy photographers could not snap a picture of the interior, they say it is different from the current Fiesta's cabin. We can expect a very modern interior with the latest iteration of Ford Sync.
It is too early to comment on what all changes the carmaker might make to the powertrains. The three- and four cylinder engine options might be made available for the international market.
The current Ford Fiesta is sold globally since 2008 and its replacement is expected to come in 2018 only. It will be sold in different body-styles including three-door, five-door hatchback and a sedan. The latter body-style is for the emerging markets and we can expect it to be brought to India. It will then come as a successor to the present Ford Fiesta sedan in the Indian market.
