A photograph of a shrouded 2018 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 sitting in the belly of a Europe-bound Boeing 747 has been circulating all over the internet. This photo has fuelled rumours that GM is going to unveil the sports car at the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans in France.
The Corvette ZR1 is essentially a Corvette Z06, but with several aerodynamic and performance upgrades to make it more track-focussed. The seventh-generation Corvette ZR1 has been spied on numerous occasions, although the company has so far been tight-lipped about its plans. However, this leaked photograph hints that the 2018 Corvette ZR1 will be unveiled during the endurance race.
Unlike traditional American cars, the Corvette ZR1 is a sports car designed to perform well on road as well as race tracks. As such, Le Mans would be an appropriate platform for the new Corvette ZR1 to break cover. If the rumour is true, then we should have complete details about the Corvette ZR1 in the next few hours.
