BMW has launched three new edition trims to the 3 Series line-up. Called Edition Sport Line Shadow, Edition Luxury Line Purity and the Edition M Sport Shadow, these trims are offered with a host of cosmetic updates and creature comforts.
As the name suggests, the Edition Sport Line Shadow adds a sporty appeal to the 3 Series. The headlamps and tail lamps get black inserts, with black surround for the kidney grille and air ducts and chrome black tail pipes. It rides on jet black 18-inch wheels. Inside, the Edition Sport Line Shadow gets a new steering wheel, a leather-and-fabric combination for the upholstery and aluminium carbon trim for the dashboard with chrome strips.
The Edition Luxury Line Purity aims to improve the luxury quotient of the 3 Series. Visual updates include aluminium accents for the kidney grille, window sill, air ducts and the rear bumper. Even the tail pipes and the 17-inch alloy wheels get aluminium finish. The leather upholstery gets a new colour option – cognac, with contrasting stitching. The trims and strips on the dashboard are made of wood and chrome.
The Edition M Sport Shadow, with inputs from the M division, is a performance-focussed trim. It gets blacked-out headlamps and tail lamps, black kidney grille and chrome black tail pipes. It rides on 19-inch M wheels. The interior sports black leather upholstery with blue stitching and carbon inserts for the dashboard. Unlike the case of the other two trims, changes to this one aren’t just cosmetic. The Edition M Sport Shadow also gets M sports suspension, a new aerodynamics package, lighter alloy wheels and an additional Sport+ driving mode. A host of ‘m’ badges all around complete the package. LED headlamps and fog lamps are offered as a standard in all three trims.
The three edition models will go on sale in July in the US and Europe. These three edition trims are also available in the estate version of the 3 Series i.e., the 3 Series Touring.
