Sources have predicted that the top end version of the A5 line-up, the RS5 coupe may look like this in the 2018 iteration.
In keeping up with the image of being fast, the exteriors will look a lot sharper and sportier. However, the single most differentiating factor of the next RS5 coupe will be what’s lurking under that hood. Audi expects to dump the 4.2-litre V8 for the new 2.9-litre biturbo V6 that was developed by Porsche and Audi. This 440bhp V6 unit that makes 550Nm of torque powers the second-generation Panamera 4S. Considering the sporty intentions of the RS5 coupe, Audi may even further tweak this engine for more performance.
Audi’s next RS5 coupe will also be underpinned by the MLB Evo platform. This exercise resulted in a significant weight reduction when it formed the basis of the latest A4 and A5 models, so anticipate the same outcome with the RS5 coupe which will lead to enhanced performance. It is speculated that the new RS 5 coupe could be showcased at some motor show in 2017, before rolling into showrooms in the international markets by the first half of 2018.
