The 2018 Audi A8L has been previewed on the India website ahead of its launch in the sub-continent early next year. This is the fourth generation for the German automaker’s flagship sedan and was showcased as the Prolouge concept at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo.
The car sports an evolutionary design and that’s not a bad thing as the outgoing model is a bit under the radar but still quite good looking. You can see the new design elements in the car in the form of the grille, head lamps and of course those tail lamps with massive light bar going through the middle.
The cabin stays quite close to the Prologue concept thanks to the three digital massive screens that dominate the proceedings and contain most of the functions for various things in the cabin. Expect the India spec car to be offered with beige as standard while various shades of brown will optional extras.
The Indian market will get the car with the 3.0-litre petrol hybrid, 6.3-litre W12 petrol and the 3.0-litre diesel. All engines will be offered with an AT option and Quattro AWD technology as standard. We believe that Audi will offer its autonomous parking technology but is unlikely to offer the driving technology due to our restrictions on use of radar based systems.
It will be initially be offered as a CBU but eventually Audi is expected to locally assemble the car at its Aurangabad plant where all the MQB cars under the VW umbrella are assembled.  Â
