Volkswagen has launched the 2017 Passat in India recently at a starting price of Rs 29.99 lakhs. This marks the re-entry of the premium sedan in our country after a long hiatus. This model has been available in the international market for two years now and was first shown globally in 2014. Let's take a look at the details inside out through this picture gallery.
The new Passat is now on sale in two familiar VW trims – Comfortline and Highline. These are priced at Rs 29.99 lakhs and Rs 32.99 lakhs respectively.
Like Skoda's Superb, the VW Passat comes with all the bells and whistles. The fascia sports full LED lights and cornering lamps.
The car is packed with many safety features like nine airbags, hill start assist, auto hold with electronic park brake, ESP, automatic traction control and even a tyre pressure monitoring system.
The infotainment system is similar to Volkswagen's SmartLink+ platform, which supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink.
This infotainment unit also gets an integrated navigation system and a dynamic reverse parking camera with 360-degree view.
Another highlight of the sedan is the new Park Assist feature with VW Parktronic and handsfree parking. This adds to the convenience of parking in a tight spot.
The carmaker has also equipped the vehicle with a sensor-based boot open feature. A good addition to add to the ease and practicality.
Passat owners will also get fully electronically adjustable front seats with memory function. These get power-adjustable lumbar support too, with a massager on the driver seat.
The luxury and premium feel is maintained by the leather seats. Furthermore, the occupants in the rear seat are pampered with a three-zone automatic climate control system.
Power comes from a 2.0-litre diesel mill mated to the tried-and-tested six-speed DSG gearbox. This engine produces 175bhp and 350Nm of torque.
The Passat is offered in six colours – oryx white pearl effect, black oak brown metallic, deep black pearl effect, pyrit silver metallic, mangan grey metallic and atlantic blue metallic.
