2017 Skoda Octavia has finally been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 15.49 lakhs. This time around, the Octavia is available in three variants – Ambition, Style and Style Plus. The style variant is available in manual as well as automatic transmission option. The new model is available in four colour options – quartz grey, brilliant silver, candy white and magic black.
Starting with the engine options, the new Octavia offers two petrol engine options - 1.4-litre and 1.8-litre engines which generate 148bhp at 5000rpm and 177bhp at 5100rpm respectively. The diesel on the other hand is powered by a 2.0-litre engine that generates 141bhp of power at 3500rpm. The smaller petrol engine is restricted to manual transmission and is available in Ambition and Style variant, while the bigger petrol engine is available in Style and Style Plus variants and gets automatic transmission as standard. The diesel manual is offered as standard in the Ambition variant, while the Style variant offers an automatic option. The top-spec Style Plus is available only in automatic variant.
Although visually all the three variants appear the same, they however offer a different set of features. The variants however offer a different set of features, where the Ambition variant offers rear AC vents, tilt and telescopic steering adjustment, height-adjustable driver seat and dual-zone climate control. The model variant also offers a touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted controls, halogen headlamps, dual airbags and outside mirror defogger with timer.
As for the Style variant, in addition to features from Ambition variant it additionally offers automatic adaptive LED headlight with washer, rain-sensing wipers, cruise control, steering-mounted paddle shifters and a large 8-inch infotainment system. The Style variant also offers a reversing camera, auto dimming internal/external mirrors and curtain airbags.
The Style Plus being a top-spec version, it additionally offers key entry and push button start, rear spoiler (petrol), satellite navigation system, panoramic electric sunroof, automatic parking system and 12-way power adjustable driver seat with memory function. Additionally the top spec version aslo offers 16-inch Alcatraz alloys, fatigue alert warning, tyre pressure monitoring system and auto tilting outside mirrors on reverse gear selection.
Safety equipment like ABS with EBD and ESP is standard across variants.
