Skoda Octavia is all set to get a new petrol engine and some new feature upgrades in the international market. As for the Indian market, the changes will be restricted to the Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) system. However, the DCC system will be introduced in the Superb sedan first and then be offered in the Octavia sedan next year.
The Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) system helps in adjusting the engine responsiveness, steering weight, softening the car dampers and gearbox reaction time to manage different driving situations. We also believe that the car might also offer three driving modes - Comfort, Normal and Sport. The new technology also requires fine tuning of the current suspension system which has been developed as per local conditions. Like Superb, we believe that the DCC system will be offered as optional on the top-of-the-line variant. Mechanically, the India-bound Skoda Octavia will continue to be powered by existing engine options.
The 2017 Skoda Octavia hatchback and Estate models in the international market will be powered by a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine that comes as a replacement to the older 1.2-litre, four-cylinder engine. The new 999cc engine will generate 113bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. The new engine comes mated to a seven-speed DSG gearbox. The international models will also get an optional aero package that further helps in increasing the efficiency. To make things interesting, the package includes a lowered sport chassis, active air flaps, a tailgate or roof spoiler which further improves air flow and low rolling resistance tyres.
