Just a few days ago, we told you about the bookings which has begun for the 2017 Skoda Octavia. Now, we bring you pictures of the impending Skoda, up-close and clicked at its Aurangabad plant.
The updates on the Octavia will be limited to cosmetics only. It gets a new butterfly grille which is flanked by new split headlamps. LED daytime running lamps (DRL) are also a part of this package. The bumper has been updated too, with strong bold lines and features a horizontal chrome lip to increase the premium look of the car. The side profile of the 2017 Octavia gets two revisions – new alloy wheels and ORVMs. The boot lid gets a revised styling and in case of the taillight, its gets a new LED unit. There’s been very little change on the inside though. The cabin features the same dual tone black and beige layout. But the steering wheel now gets a three-spoke unit with integrated control buttons. The panoramic sunroof and the infotainment system is from the older iteration.
Mechanically, there won't be any changes. The 2017 Octavia will continue to get petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol motor will be available in two engine options - a 1.8-litre TSI petrol engine that generates 178bhp of power and 250Nm of torque and a smaller 1.4-litre TSI petrol that produces 148bhp of power. The 1.8-litre will be mated to a 7-speed DSG transmission, while the smaller one will be mated to a six-speed. For those who prefer a diesel motor, the sedan will also be launched with a 2.0-litre diesel motor.
The Octavia has a decent amount of fan following in India. It will be interesting to see if Skoda will be able to cash in more sales with the facelifted Octavia.
