Renault has today unveiled the Captur (Kaptur) in India at an event in Goa. The carmaker has confirmed that it will sell the new compact SUV here as ‘Renault Captur’ and not ‘Renault Kaptur’. And even though it has opted for the European name, the Captur to be launched in India is not related to the European-spec Captur. Take a look at this range-topping trim, which gets the additional 'Platine' suffix.

The new Renault Kaptur is based on the existing Renault Duster (Dacia Duster)’s B0/Logan platform. It's not a seven-seater and will only seat five occupants.

It is a stylish crossover and appears to be quite upmarket judging by the pictures. This is further evident in the all-LED headlamps and C-shaped sapphire LED daytime running lights.

Similarly, at the back there are ripple tail LED lamps which accentuate its premium appearance. Furthermore, the rear spoiler and two-tone colour scheme form the core marketable features of this vehicle.

The car's cabin is finished in a dual-tone black and white shade. The centre console hosts a large touchscreen infotainment system surrounded by gloss black inserts.

Another highlight is the instrument cluster, which is particularly unique with the twin pod unit housing a digital infotainment display.

This one is the higher specification of the 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission. It is tuned to deliver 110bhp of power and 245Nm of torque.

This Indian model Captur is expected to be launched in the coming month. Its launch will be a significant step in Renault’s growth journey in India. More on the Captur Platine in a couple of days. Stay tuned.
