The fourth day of the 2017 Rainforest Challenge was held at a new campsite. However, the leaderboard remained unchanged from the third day. Gurmeet Virdi and his co-driver Kirpal Singh Tung ended the day with 1307 points on rank 1. Driver Siddharth Santosh and his co-driver Prithviraj AC stood one point behind the leaders with 1306 points. Jagat Nanjappa and Chethan Changappa ended the day with 1267 points on rank 3.
There were three special stages that the participants had to tackle- special stage 16, special stage 17 and special stage 18 - which were a mix of tricky and easy. The first two stages were about winching the vehicle through steep climbs and inclines and getting them through sharp and tight turns. The agility of the participating vehicles were tested to the extreme. The third special stage included crossing a stream, maneuvering through narrow turns and a bit of rock crawling with the help of a winch, again.
The day saw a few cars toppling, a few tyre bursts and also some participants having a spat with the event officials regarding penalties. That being said, the upcoming stages can only be expected to get tougher and challenge the participants to the extreme. But then, hey, that's just more adrenaline rush for us spectators. Stay tuned for more updates.
