Porsche has introduced the new generation of the Panamera in India at Rs 1.93 Crore for the Turbo guise. The second generation Panamera line-up will be initiated with the Turbo variant which will be joined by the longer wheelbase Panamera Turbo Executive and the recently unveiled Panamera Turbo Sport Turismo estate. The German manufacturer has updated the pricing on their website already ahead of the Indian debut which will take place tomorrow in Mumbai.
The second generation Panamera was first unveiled in June last year. The design of the new Panamera is evolutionary rather than revolutionary. There is a new four-point LED headlamp, newly designed tail lights with sleek LEDs replacing the bulbous units in the older car. The new Panamera is longer, wider and lowered yet retains the characteristic Porsche design. The Panamera’s grand touring ability has been rethought with a new engine and gearbox options, altered underpinnings and a new dash layout that seems to have been reinterpreted for the future. The dashboard is dominated by a massive 12.3-inch screen, touch sensitive panels while the digital instrument cluster looks a lot like Audi’s Virtual Cockpit system. The new Panamera is equipped with several optional and standard features in terms of driving assist and safety equipment. Among new features are rear axle steering, air suspension, night vision assist to name a few.
Engine wise, Porsche is introducing all three models powered by the same new 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 pushing out 542bhp and 770Nm. The power is channeled to all four wheels via a new eight-speed PDK double-clutch transmission. The two-tone grand tourer will accelerate from zero to 100kmph in a brisk 3.8second (3.6second with optional Sport Chrono package) and will go all the way to a top speed of 306kmph.
The Panamera Turbo Executive is priced at Rs 2.05 Crore, while the Panamera Turbo Sport Turismo is billed at Rs 1.97 Crore.
