Nissan is set to introduce the MY 2017 Micra in India tomorrow. The updated Micra will get additional features while the design and powertrain are expected to be retained. Judging by the teaser images released by the carmaker, the new Micra is likely to get rain sensing wipers, parking sensors and rear parking camera.
As a part of model year update, a new touchscreen infotainment system has been added with smartphone connectivity and minor cosmetic updates. The fascia could get fresh inserts of chrome with a redesigned bumper both fore and aft. On the inside, expect a new upholstery with a slightly tweaked dashboard layout as well to add a fresh appeal to the hatchback.
In terms of mechanicals, the updated Micra will continue to use the same 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines as the current car. Power outputs are expected to remain the same, which is 75bhp and 104Nm for petrol, while diesel belts out 65bhp and 160Nm. The petrol models get a CVT automatic transmission.
The 2017 Micra is expected to be a tad pricier than the current car. Post launch, the new Micra will continue to rival against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 and Honda Brio.
