Nissan has launched the 2017 Model Year Micra hatchback in India at ₹5.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). This model year update comes in the form of additional features for the cabin and is available across two petrol automatic and two diesel manual variants.
There are no changes in prices for the petrol variants of the hatchback but now the price of the top-of-the-line diesel variant has gone up by ₹14,000. The additional features are rain sensing wipers, new steering with audio controls, follow-me-home head lamps and colour accents for the dashboard. A few months ago, Nissan had discontinued the manual petrol variants of the Micra making it an AT only model. This move has no doubt come on the back of demand from customers for such variants.
There are no exterior changes and the Micra still retains its quirky and rounded looks. Noticeable elements include the V-shaped grille, big wheels and of course, those LED tail lamps. On the mechanical front, the Micra is offered with a 1.2-litre petrol motor producing 75bhp/104Nm and mated to a CVT. The diesel is a 1.5-litre unit producing 65bhp/160Nm and mated to a five-speed manual.
The Nissan Micra takes on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10, Honda Brio and of course, the Renault Pulse.
