The Swift Dzire from Maruti Suzuki has been a best seller in its segment for quite a while now. This time around, the new-gen Swift Dzire has been spotted undisguised. Reports indicate that the production for the new Dzire has already begun at the company’s production facility in Manesar and is expected to be launched in May. The new model will get a fresh set of design and feature upgrades.
The new-gen Swift Dzire will be available in petrol as well as diesel engine options. The vehicle will continue to be powered by a 1.2-litre K-series engine which produces 83bhp of power and 115Nm of torque. The diesel version will continue to be powered by a 1.3-litre DDiS engine that generates 74bhp of power and 190Nm of torque. Reports indicate that this time around the vehicle might also get an SHVS system, which if true, will mean that the diesel variant will generate slightly additional power output figure of 86bhp. Moreover, the new model might also be offered with an AMT option in the higher variant, while the lower trims might continue to be offered in manual transmission.
Like the current generation, the new model will also benefit from the sub-four metre incentive as it is expected to measure 3,995mm in length. As seen in images, the new-gen Dzire gets a fluidic design which seems to be inspired by the Baleno premium hatchback. The new petal-shaped wrap-around tail lamps have been redesigned for freshness along with a prominent long chrome strip on the boot. The one spotted on-test is believed to be a top-spec model that will be offered with a new set of multi-spoke alloy wheels.
The new Dzire will help Maruti Suzuki strengthen its position against its newest competitor, the Tigor styleback from Tata Motors. To a large extent, the new model carries forth fresh design upgrades from the new generation Swift hatchback which was last seen at the recently concluded Geneva Auto Show. Additional details about the vehicle will be known at a later date.
