The Maruti Suzuki Ignis is being aimed to target a youthful audience. Nevertheless, the funky looking car is quite appropriate for a small family of up to four people.
With a tall height, quirky design, large wheel arches and a distinctive front and rear end, the Ignis makes a neat looking city car. Maruti Suzuki has followed a global design language to make it look very modern.
The front features projector headlamps with DRLs, fog lamps with chrome inserts and a grille with dynamic lines and Suzuki’s badge in the centre.
The silhouette shows of the unique proportions of the car with well-proportioned wheel placement. With the Ignis, the carmaker is for the first time offering black alloys on any of its products in India.
The Ignis features the signature Suzuki Progressive Traid Mark on the C-Pillar. This not only looks good, but Maruti Suzuki says it’s meant to build the iconic flavour of the car.
The Ignis will come with an option of two engines - a modified version of the 1.2-litre K-series petrol unit found on the Swift and Baleno and the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine.
Transmission options will include a five-speed manual gearbox and also the brand’s AGS (auto-gear shift) on both the petrol and diesel models.
The carmaker has kept the interior styling of the Ignis very modern and chic to appeal to the young buyers. The car is also packed with a whole load of new features.
The latest being the tablet-like touchscreen infotainment system with navigation. This supports smartphone connectivity and Apple CarPlay as well.
Apart from a host of new tech, the carmaker has packed in several safety features as well. These include dual airbags, ABS and even a reverse camera with parking sensors.
Customers will also be offered unique personalization opportunities to make their car look more unique. There are different roof wraps available to suit their needs apart from black and white wraps.
Maruti have not made any statement regarding the car’s pricing. However, considering that it will be offered only through Nexa dealerships, a premium price tag could start around Rs 5.5 lakh.
