The current generation of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire has been around since 2011-12 and is long overdue for an update. With the competition reinventing itself, Maruti Suzuki was not to be left behind. Now, the largest Indian car maker is all set to launch the new Dzire on May 16, 2017.
Bookings for the new car will be accepted from May 1 at dealerships and the deliveries are expected to commence soon after. The new 2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire has already reached many dealerships, evident from the numerous leaked photographs of the car before the launch.
The 2017 Dzire is built on the new HEARTECT platform which is lighter and at the same time stronger. It helps reduce the weight of the car without compromising on the ride and handling, which the Dzire is known for. As for the styling, the new Dzire has managed to retain the essence of the current generation car in spite of being an all new design.
While the equipment list is more or less the same, it gets a touchscreen infotainment system from the Baleno/Ignis. This is the first Maruti to get a flat-bottom steering wheel and gets wooden highlight on the black and beige interior as well. Mechanically, the 1.2-litre petrol engine and the 1.3 litre diesel engine have been carried over with their standard five-speed manual gearboxes. As for the automatic options, instead of the CVT for the petrol, you will now have five-speed AMT options for both petrol as well as the diesel engines.
The Dzire is the undisputed king of the compact sedan segment and despite the all-new design, we do not expect Maruti to price the new car at a premium over the older car. We expect the pricing of the entry-level petrol to be between Rs 5.35 lakh to Rs 5.6 lakh while the top-spec diesel automatic might go up to Rs 9 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.
